The love of blues grew in Heather's heart from a young age where she was fortunate enough to participate in the BluesEd program based out of her hometown, Omaha, NE. Through the program she gained knowledge of the business from national and international blues musicians. All of whom challenged her to put her skills to the test and see how far hard work would take her.
Heather began to teach herself how to play guitar, eventually booking acoustic shows around Omaha. Her songwriting turned towards folk, but she couldn't seem to shake off her blues roots. After a few years of performing on her own she began to look for musicians with whom she could share her passion. The search brought her to Kansas City in 2015 where she wrote, toured, and recorded with another well known KC based band as the rhythm guitarist and vocalist. She spent two years traveling, gaining a swift cascade of fans across the nation and learning what all she could. Her dedication gained her momentum as a powerhouse vocalist and solid rhythm player before deciding it was time to step out into a spotlight of her own.
At the beginning of 2017, Heather made preparations to begin building an empire of her own, not only with a new instrument in tow, but a new band as well. After taking the time to tighten the inner workings of her music, the Heather Newman Band had their debut at legendary Knucklehead's Saloon. The blues trio continued making strides as the year progressed, eventually adding a fourth member to bring a new level to the Heather Newman Band. Heather released her first studio album, "Burn Me Alive" through Vizztone Label Group at the beginning of December 2017. With the strong leading melodies of Keith Ladd on guitar and Ryan Matthew on Piano/Organ, Heather's steady grooving bass lines lock in Cole Dillingham's deep rooted beats, this group produces a one of a kind medley of various styles such as soul, funk, blues, and rock, with a killer original set. Heather's ever flowing, sultry, emotional vocals makes every show exciting and unique, keeping her loving fans coming back for more.
Now, Heather is finished writing up the remnants of her recent past to bring a new batch of songs for 2019.
Keith Ladd, born and raised in Lee’s Summit, MO, has always had a great fascination with American Roots music. He started showing interest in playing the guitar at five years old but didn’t start his real studies until he turned 10. While growing up, he played in multiple country and rock bands around Kansas City before he started to create his own music. He released a self-titled EP at the end of 2016 before joining the Heather Newman Band at the beginning of 2017.
Ryan was born and raised in Omaha, NE. He was introduced to many forms of music from a young age and began classical piano at 9. He performed in multiple instrumental and choral ensembles throughout high school and college, and studied jazz and classical piano, voice, and percussion at Valparaiso University in Indiana, graduating with a Bachelor's of Arts in Music in 2009. Ryan has taught piano and played with various artists in Northwest Indiana and Chicago, before moving to Kansas City in 2016.
Cole began to play and read music at the age of 10, including flat picking, drums, guitar, and bass. His most formal training with his drum set brings him much joy although you can still find him slinging a guitar or bass from time to time. Moving from different bands over the years, Cole found himself in the midst of the blues world in Kansas City. He joined the Amanda Fish Band in 2014 where he played drums, guitar, and bass. November of 2016 he combined forces with Heather Newman, creating the solid rhythm upon which the band builds their blues.
